Inveresk House is beautifully situated in three acres of grounds, surrounded by woodland, in Inveresk village, thought to be the earliest inhabited conservation village in Scotland. The house, which Oliver Cromwell used as his headquarters during the battle of Dunbar, boasts many fine architectural features such as beautifully ornate fireplaces, ceilings and cornices. A plethora of dark wooden panelling adds richness. Musselburgh is the real home of golf and Scotland's first golf course is located in the middle of the race track. Many regular bus services run to Edinburgh city centre. Children welcome.
