The Parador de Zafra occupies the former palace of the Dukes of Feria, a 15th century castle in the south-west of the province of Badajoz. Zafra is located next to the Silver Route, 60 kilometres away from Mérida and 73 km away from Badajoz. The building has a stunning façade and a splendid Renaissance courtyard with a stone interior that preserves the coffered ceilings, chests, ironwork and other elements of the old palace. Its rooms are spacious and stately with Castilian wooden furniture. The hotel also has a swimming pool and a well-tended garden. In its restaurant they offer typical dishes made with local products: wild asparagus, thistles, local "criadillas" or mushrooms, as well as an exquisite selection of cold meats. Some of the highlights of the menu.are Migas del Pastor (fried breadcrumb dish) with eggs, Cazuela de bacalao con Pisto Extremeño (cod casserole with Extremaduran ratatouille) and Caldereta de cordero (lamb stew).
