Weather in Corfu

Corfu enjoys the usual beautiful Mediterranean weather of hot summers and lots of sunshine, although its climate differs slightly to most of its neighbouring islands, most notably with summer temperatures tending to peak at around 38C, a far more manageable temperature than some of its neighbours who hit the mid-40s, and with its slightly higher rainfall during the winter months which we have to thank for the lush greenery of the island, another rarity in much of Greece. Don’t worry though, the rain steers well clear in the summer, so you’re only likely to experience this if visiting in the off-season.

Summer is consistently hot, with the temperatures peaking in July and August. The annual Meltemi winds – a strong, dry northerly wind – also arrive during these months and usually blow for up to 45 days each summer. The wind is generally seen as a welcome relief from the heat and humidity, although be warned that it might affect some activities as it can get pretty strong!

May, June and September see temperatures around the mid-20s, with very little rainfall and little wind, and are therefore some of the most popular times to visit.
